Welcome to the first blog of the semester!
Good Day Folks!
Welcome to grade nine Science in room 221 with Ms. Kelly Scallion. Please read over the following course outline and respond to the blog if you have any questions.
- Science 10G is a half year course that is worth o.5 of a credit.
- A final exam will be given in January. If, at the end of the course, you have an average of 75% or above you MAY be exempt from the exam.
- We will be doing work in the Science lab as well as the computer lab. In order for you to be permitted in either lab you and your parent/guardian must sign a Safety/Conduct forms. If these forms are not signed and returned to me in a timely manner you will be unable to participate in the labs or research assignments.
- You are required to purchase a pair of Science Lab goggles. These goggles must make a complete seal around your eyes. They should not have any holes to prevent any fluid away from your eyes. Woodworking/Metals goggles are NOT acceptable. If you do not have goggles you will not be able to participate in the lab.
- Required Materials for Science 10G:
1. Binder and loose-leaf
2. Pens
3. Pencils and erasers
4. Ruler
5. Goggles
- The textbook for this course is Science 9. A textbook will be assigned to you. You will be responsible for this textbook for the term. At the end of term you will hand in your text. If you have lost or damaged your assigned text you will be required to pay for the text before your marks will be released.
- Your overall grade will broken down into the following categories:
1. Class work 30%
2. Tests & Quizzes 20%
3. Lab Reports 15%
4. Participation 10%
5. Blog 5%
6. Exam 25%
- We will be covering THREE units this semester:
1. Cellular Reproduction
2. Basic Chemistry
3. Electricity
